Bernoulli Finance is a financial services consultancy for mission-positive ventures. We are entrepreneurs who help entrepreneurs, and we are seeking an inquisitive, organized mind to join our crew. This is a fully remote, contract position that could quickly shift to (still remote) full-time employment pending good fit and performance.
POSITION DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as accounting manager for client’s financial operations, which includes some/all of the following:
- Supervise bookkeeping and assist with bringing accounts up to date, if needed;
- Conduct periodic reviews of financial records;
- Support client’s tax accountants with quarterly and annual tax filings;
- Act as primary hub for communication and troubleshooting between the client and any financial third parties;
- Train business owners/internal accounting teams in using any new administrative or financial systems;
Lead financials ops planning and improvement, which includes but is not limited to:
- Assess technological solutions for accounting, POS, inventory management, and other financial workflows;
- Design, implement, and activate integrated and efficient workflows across clients’ administrative systems;
- Support with building budgets, designing financial dashboards, and developing cash flow projections.
MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS
- Minimum 5 years of experience in bookkeeping & accounting operations for both product- and service-oriented businesses;
- Minimum 3 years of experience with excellent knowledge of QuickBooks Online;
- Good knowledge of the reporting side of POS systems (ex: Square, Toast, Revel);
- Good knowledge of inventory management concepts and systems (ex: SOS, Dear, Finale, Cin7);
- Experience with reporting side of e-commerce platforms (ex: Shopify, WooCommerce, Squarespace);
- Proficiency with payroll and payroll systems (ex: Gusto, Justworks, ADP);
- Experience with filing sales tax returns;
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel;
- Excellent written and spoken English;
- An undergraduate degree, preferably in accounting or finance.
BONUS POINTS FOR EXPERIENCE WITH
- Other accounting software like NetSuite or Xero;
- Researching, selecting, implementing, and troubleshooting systems, including accounting, inventory management, POS;
- Designing and launching e-commerce systems;
- Teaching accounting basics to small groups, either in person or online;
- Researching and analyzing grant opportunities, writing proposals, and creating funding plans;
- Researching and writing short- or long-form articles related to small businesses, entrepreneurship, accounting, and finance.
